Administering our tests
The September session of the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is going international!
This year, BMAT – September will take place on Saturday 1 September and will be available to take in the following countries: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, UAE, UK and USA.
Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing first introduced the alternative test date for BMAT in 2017. Following the success of last year’s BMAT – September session, the test will be available to take across a much wider, international centre network.
The September session was initially introduced primarily for UK universities as it gives students the opportunity to receive their results before the UCAS application deadline. Additionally, it supports widening participation by giving students the confidence to apply to medical schools with their results already confirmed.
The majority of UK universities that use BMAT as part of their application process now accept the September results. The only exception is the University of Oxford, which will only accept BMAT results from the October session.
Currently, there are also six universities in Thailand that accept BMAT results from the September session. They use BMAT as an entry requirement for English-taught Medicine or Dentistry courses.
BMAT is a well-established admissions test that is designed to help universities select students with the right skills and aptitude to succeed on challenging Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry and related undergraduate courses. The key skills it tests are: critical thinking, problem solving, data analysis, communication and application of scientific knowledge.
