Our team

Andy ChamberlainAndy Chamberlain, Head of Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing
Andy is responsible for maintaining and developing our relationships with governments, universities, employers and other key stakeholders. He also has responsibility for ensuring our range of assessments reflects the needs of our stakeholders.

Prior to joining the Admissions Testing team, Andy worked for Cambridge English Language Assessment as Regional Manager for the examinations in Central, Eastern and South East Europe. Before this, Andy was Student Services Manager for an English language school, where he managed the welfare of overseas students. Andy has a BA in Geography and a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

Paul CrumpPaul Crump, Assessment Group Manager
Paul is responsible for the development and production of our thinking skills and behavioural styles assessments.

Prior to joining the team, Paul worked in another part of Cambridge Assessment, where he was responsible for the development and production of tests of General and Business English. Paul holds an MSc in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy from the University of Hull and an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from Anglia Ruskin University.

Mark ShannonMark Shannon, Assessment Group Manager
Mark is responsible for the development and production of our subject-specific assessments.

Mark originally joined Cambridge Assessment as an educational researcher where he worked on the development of the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT), and went on to become a founder member of Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing. Mark holds a first-class BEd (Biological Sciences) degree from the University of Cambridge, and an MSc with distinction in Social Research Methods from City, University of London.

Safiatú LopesSafiatú Lopes, Principal Research Manager
Safiatú is responsible for managing the overall research strategy for Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing.

Safiatú holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from UCL and an MSc in Occupational Psychology from Manchester University. Prior to joining Cambridge Assessment, Safiatú worked as a consultant business psychologist leading various projects related to the design, delivery and evaluation of psychometrics for medical selection, in particular Situational Judgement Tests.


We have used the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) since 2008. College admissions tutors have found that the test provides invaluable information, helping us to assess applicants from diverse educational backgrounds fairly. Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing has constantly provided efficient administration and reliable support. We particularly value their commitment to ongoing research and development in relation to the test.
