We are offering an alternative BMAT test date at certain test centres on 1 September, for test-takers applying to certain courses. Find out more about BMAT – September.
You must only take BMAT once in an admissions cycle.
You must only take the test once, either in September or October.
Applicants must only take one BMAT in an admissions cycle. Taking the test twice may be viewed by an institution as an attempt to gain unfair advantage. If you take BMAT in both September and October it will result in scores for both tests being shared with all BMAT institutions which you are applying to.
Yes, you can withdraw your entry for the test. Your Exams Officer will need to do this for you. Your entry can only be withdrawn until 15 October 2018. If your entry is withdrawn by 15 October, your standard entry fee will be refunded. Late entry fees are not refunded.
Candidates should use a soft pencil for Sections 1 and 2 of BMAT. It’s a good idea to have a pencil eraser too.
For Section 3 of BMAT you must use a black ink pen. Use of correction fluid is not permitted.
Dictionaries - including bilingual dictionaries - and calculators cannot be used.
No. Extra time is not allowed for candidates without English as their first language.

A candidate who requires a laptop must be accommodated in a way that does not disturb other candidates, and the laptop screen must not be visible to them.
If this is done by separating the candidate using the laptop, they must have a separate invigilator.
Candidates using a laptop should format their work in Arial font, size 11, single-spaced. Automatic spell checkers and grammar checkers must be disabled. The word limit for each BMAT writing task is 550 words – candidates can be marked down for going over this limit.
At the end of the test, the candidate using the laptop must be present when their script is printed off, to confirm that the work is theirs. The candidate’s name, candidate number, candidate initials and centre number should be clearly written on the printout.
Requests for special consideration are used to indicate to institutions that a candidate suffered temporary illness, injury or indisposition at the time of the assessment. They may also be used to indicate that there were problems with an aspect of the administration of the test, such as a fire alarm during the test session.

You use our Metritests system to check your results. Login details will be on the Confidential Results Information (CRI) sheet which will be given to you on test day.
Results for applications to universities in the United Kingdom and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine will automatically be sent to those universities (as long as your choices were entered on Entries Extranet when your centre registered you for the test). Results for all other universities are not sent automatically, so you need to share your results with these institutions.

No. You must take BMAT in the year you are applying to university. If you take the test again, your score from one year will not affect your chances if re-applying in later years, as each application is considered afresh.
