When and how can I access my BMAT results?

Results from the BMAT – October 2022 session will be released on 25 November 2022.

You can check your BMAT results by logging into our Metritests system. Use the login details from your Confidential Results Information sheet, which you will be given on the day of the test.

Sharing your BMAT results with universities

Whether you need to share your results with universities or whether they will be shared automatically depends on which universities you have applied to. Check what you need to do below:

Applicants to universities in the United Kingdom and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC), Singapore, see more:

Your results are automatically sent to any BMAT universities that you informed your test centre about when registering for the test.

Can I add and/or remove universities before my results are released?

If you would like to make any changes to the universities you applied to, you will need to contact your test centre. Any amendments will need to be submitted to us by your Exams Officer in advance of the test date.

Applicants to ALL other universities that accept BMAT – October, see more:

Your results are not sent to universities automatically. You need to select which universities you want to receive your results using our Metritests system. This can be done as soon as the results have been released.

Your results are valid until 30 September 2023, but please check with your chosen universities for any information about when they need the results, to make sure you share them in time for your application to be considered.

How to release your results to universities

Follow three easy steps:

  1. Go to your Metritests account (login details are on the Confidential Results Information sheet you will be given on the test day).
  2. Click on the test inside your Metritests account and select the ‘Share Results’ option.
  3. Select the universities you want to receive your results using the dropdown under ‘Institution Name’, then the degree(s) from the dropdown under ‘Course Details’, then click ‘Save’. The university will then have access to your results straight away.

What if I don’t use the Metritests system?

If you do not make your selection using the Metritests system, your test results will not be provided to the university.

Can I send my results to universities I have not applied to?

For most universities, sharing results does not constitute an application, and your results will not be considered unless you have also made a formal application to the university. Please contact the universities directly on how to do this.

How do universities use my BMAT results?

The majority of universities consider your BMAT score, alongside the other information in your application, so that they can decide whether or not to invite you for an interview. This applies to all UK universities that accept BMAT.

Some universities may use the score alongside the other information in your application to make a decision on whether to offer you a place on the course.

To find out exactly how universities use BMAT results, visit the relevant department’s website or speak to them directly.

Special consideration

If you have submitted a request for Special Consideration, we have investigated the information you provided and informed your chosen universities of the outcome, so that they consider it alongside your score.

It is important to be aware that the score you receive is based only on your performance in the test and does not reflect any Special Consideration received.

The universities you have applied to will consider all of the information they have from your application to ensure that every applicant is treated fairly.

Have you got more questions? See below

Can I take the test twice?

Applicants must only take BMAT once in an admissions cycle. Taking the test twice may be viewed by a university as an attempt to gain unfair advantage.

Can I use a BMAT result from a previous year as part of a new application?

BMAT results are only valid in the year that the test is taken and cannot be carried over to a re-application.

Likewise, a candidate’s score from one year will not affect their chances of re-applying in later years, as each application is considered afresh.

What is a good BMAT score?

Students are not expected to get everything right in BMAT, and a typical candidate will get about half of the questions correct.

BMAT scores are used differently by universities; some will place more importance on your results than others. Check with your university directly for more information.

Can BMAT results be queried or appealed?

If you believe that there has been an error in the processing or reporting of your results, you can ask your centre to submit a Results Enquiry on your behalf. This must be submitted within five working days from the release of your results (i.e. the deadline for BMAT – October 2022 is 1 December).

If a candidate thinks a Malpractice case or a Results Enquiry outcome was incorrectly handled, they can submit an Appeal.

For more information about our policies and processes, please visit our Customer Support Site.

What if I can’t find my Confidential Results Information sheet?

If you can’t find your Confidential Results Information sheet, either you or your test centre will need to contact our Customer Support Team. You’ll be asked to provide a copy of your ID in order to be reissued your login details.
