Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing - Information for Test Takers - Classics Admissions Test

About the Classics Admissions Test (CAT)

In partnership with the University of Oxford

Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing is working with the University of Oxford to assist in the administration of its Classics Admissions Test (CAT).

The CAT is a subject-specific admissions test for applicants to all University of Oxford Classics and joint schools undergraduate degree courses.

The CAT is a paper-based test. The test is divided into three papers: the Latin Translation Test, the Greek Translation Test and the Classics Language Aptitude Test (CLAT). Each paper is 1 hour. The number of papers you take depends on which course you are applying for. You can check which papers you need to take at: www.ox.ac.uk/tests.

The University of Oxford’s Faculty of Classics is responsible for the setting and development of the CAT, including the test format and scoring. For general information about the test, see the University of Oxford’s Admissions Tests page.

CAT results

Test results are not published automatically, but candidates may request their score as part of the usual University of Oxford feedback process.
