Preparing for the HAT

You can find everything you need to prepare for the History Admissions Test (HAT) on the University of Oxford’s Faculty of History website.

You are strongly advised to make sure you are familiar with the test format by downloading the past papers.

Please note: Changes were made to the HAT for 2019 entry. The paper was updated to consist of one question based on an extract from a primary source, to be answered in one hour. The format of this question is similar to question 3 of past papers which are available on the University of Oxford’s Faculty of History website. Please bear this in mind when preparing for the test.
