Taking TSA UCL

Who needs to take TSA UCL?

Candidates applying for R990 European Social and Political Studies (EISPS) and LV01 International Social and Political Studies (ISPS) at UCL. UCL will tell you if you need to sit the test. If in doubt, contact UCL’s Admissions Office.

When do I take TSA UCL?

The test will be arranged by UCL when you apply. The test is online and will be taken on your own computer at home or another suitable location. You will be monitored by a remote Proctor.

Arrangements for applicants outside Europe vary. For more information, visit the relevant application sections on the UCL website: BA ESPS (R990) or BA ISPS: (LV01).

What equipment should be used for TSA UCL?

  • a valid ID (please check this in advance). Valid forms of ID include your passport, identity card and biometric residence permit (if a photo is included). The ID must contain your full name and a photo of yourself on the same side. 
  • a computer or laptop with webcam and microphone. 
  • a laptop charger. 
  • your laptop must be connected to either a wi-fi or wired network (depending on test location). 
  • rough paper and pencil. 

You will be provided with full, detailed guidelines about your online test before the test date.

Dictionaries – including bilingual dictionaries – and calculators cannot be used.

Access arrangements and special considerations

What access arrangements are available?

For the online test, UCL can usually make any of the usual arrangements appropriate to the disability.

What do I do if I need access arrangements?

Contact UCL.

Do I qualify for special consideration? How do I apply?

If a candidate thinks that their TSA UCL test was affected by temporary illness, injury or any other issue, they can ask for this to be taken into account as a special consideration.
